Non-responsive (blacked out) phone but recognized by iTunes

Hello,

I replaced my phone screen on my 5S and tried to turn on the screen but it does not display anything (no backlight as well). It was working for a few minutes before.

I gave my phone a call it did not receive any sounds/notifications and flipping the vibrate/silent switch did not cause the phone to vibrate motor to activate. (it did right before I had done the fix w/o the screen on).

The phone is recognized in iTunes so I believe the phone is on but I've tried numerous restores but nothing changes. Sticking the phone in DFU with reiboot and plugging in with iTunes says the phone may possibly have an error and needs to be restored. Not sure if this is the standard window that pops up during DFU mode.

Pressing the home + power i.e. hard reset also does nothing.

Any possible solutions?

Thanks

A few questions:

Did it work for a few minutes AFTER you put the new display on?

Did you disconnect the battery before taking the old display off and putting the new one on?

after you closed the phone the connector for the screen could of disconected

Yes, the screen worked after I put the new display on and yes the battery was disconnected.

I went back in to see if the connection had loosened but they were not.

Do you still have the old display? I'd try throwing that back on and seeing if you can restore with that on there.

It sounds like its just a display problem that is triggering iOS to error. If having the original display on allows you to restore, then you know its a bad display. If it doesn't, then something on the board got fried.

Here's hoping its just a weird bad display issue.

It could be possible that your screen is not 'getting along' with your old Firmware. Try restoring your iPhone using iTunes. You will lose all your data stored directly on the iPhone, unless a recent backup was invoked.

By the way: This message your computer is giving you means your iPhone is in DFU mode, or Recovery mode.
