Cracked mother board ipad

I recently took my iPad in for a screen repair. The repair guy was honest and said my mother board was cracked and who knows how long it would work. So he didn't want me to waste my money on the screen repair so he did not fix the screen. My question is it still turns on but now I can't slide to get into the iPad, the touch screen is not working. Can I do anything to temp fix this to get my info off before the mother board crashes?
