freezes when booting from internal HDD, can't boot with external

my powerbook 12" chimes when power button is press, i get the apple logo but then freezes just before it loads the logging screen. tried booting from external firewire drive or dvd/cd freezes with a scrambled display. booted on verbose mode and it gets stuck after loading Airport_Brcm43xx:

i tried removing the additional ram, installed a known working internal HDD all in vain.

any ideas?

i came to a conclusion that this is a logicboard issue based on the following: when i did a target disk the hdd could boot on another machine but not the other way around. fsck command reported no errors. removed the airport card and now the machine gets stuck after loading login window app.
