Excessive heat and a decrease in performance

Hey,

Recently my galaxy s6 fell out of my pocket into a puddle. Everything seems to work okay, but I found that the battery is emitting an excessive amount of heat and I've experienced quite a dramatic drop in performance. Sometimes I'll press the power button and it will take 20 seconds for it to work. I kept the phone on a towel after it got wet for 72hrs and everything seemed to work find for about a day. Anyone know how to resolve this or share possible reasons why this would happen?

Cheers :)

Here is a great video that explains the "why":

There are countless tiny components inside your phone that corrode nearly immediately once your phone gets wet. The heat issue is a serious one since your phone does have a lipo battery and the battery can explode and catch fire. The best case scenario for you would be a bad battery. That's a pretty straight forward fix. Otherwise, it will be damage to the charging system which would require micro soldering skills and tools.

Thanks for the reply. The heat is mostly in the top region of the phone and I can hear a clacking sound when I shake the phone (not sure if thats normal). As for a fix for the battery, I have heard that it's extremely hard to disassemble my particular phone. I wouldn't be able to get it repaired by Samsung because water damage isn't covered under warranty. It has been a few days and the phone hasn't gotten any worse, though I assume the phone will slowly degrade over time. Any thoughts on how to get it diagnosed and repaired? Cheers

Samsung phones are among the worst to work on now. It takes some practice to be able to open them without breaking something. If you don't want to take it on yourself, find a reputable repair shop close to you. They will be able to diagnose it for sure.
