the screen won't let me see nothing is all white with no logo

This is probably a hard dive issue, so that's why I want to to boot from an external drive.

Recently I had issue with display and went to maple repair they diagnosed for 3 days and said I have to change display and keyboard and gave me quotation for $1300 I took it back so they charged diagnose charges $ 40. When I showed it in local repair shop who does repair for corporates he checked and saw it was graphic card issue. I was thinking how authorized repair people will con us. So I am mention everywhere in the blog. I have also raised complaint against maple service. Apple rep said they will take strict action against them for giving wrong information.

Internal drive issues would not cause these symptoms.

There are some steps to repair white screen on MAC

1. Try a Safe Boot

Mac OS X 10.2 and later Safe Boot includes disk checking and repair. First start your Mac in Safe Mode. To do this, shut down your Mac. Now Turn on your computer by pressing the power key while holding down the Shift key. When you see the Apple logo, release the Shift key. After your Mac fully starts, restart your computer normally without holding any keys/buttons during startup. Note that Safe Boot is slower to boot.

2. Run Disk Utility

Turn your Mac off by holding down the power button for a few seconds. Turn on your Mac and hold down the Command and R keys until you see the Apple logo. Then you should see a “Mac OS X Utilities” window. Select Disk Utility, click your OS X hard drive and select verify/repair disk.

3. Reset PRAM

This may fix your boot failure. PRAM (“parameter random-access memory”) stores some of your settings. You may reset PRAM. To do that, turn off your Mac. Now turn on your Mac. Then, immediately, hold down the Option-Command-P-R keys until your Mac restarts. When your Mac is starting up, release the keys.

4. Using Terminal in Single User mode

Most times, the steps above will usually fix your problem. However if it did not work for you there are a few additional steps that you can take before you decide to Reinstall Mac OS X on your machine.

The first three steps help you launch into the single user mode on your Mac.

Step – A. Shut down your Mac.

Step – B. Press the power button to start up your Mac.

Step – C. Immediately Hold down Command-S for single-user mode.

Now you have launched your Mac on a Single user mode. The next few steps will help check for file system consistency and remount the boot volume.

Step – D. On the terminal window Type fsck –fy and press return

Step – E. Type mount –uw and press return

Step – F. Type touch /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone and press return

Step – G. Type exit and press return

These Seven steps above should help your Mac deal with the White Screen issue.

5. Reinstall Mac OS X

If nothing above works, you may try this. Your Mac needs to be connected to the Internet. See number#2 above. Follow the same steps. Restart your Mac and hold down the Command key and the R key until the Apple icon appears; when you see the Mac OS X utilities window, select the Reinstall option.

Or just come to terms that the graphics card is failing and stop wasting your life as all these posts have wasted mine , pre 2013 /13 had crappy solder that breaks down due to legislation preventing the use of lead in the solder , it becomes brittle , bad connections cause heat and slowly kills the chip , also MacBooks have diabolical ventilation which also adds to the one thing that destroys laptops ....HEAT

из

Your answer is the only one that I can find valid. I have this issue and It’s the same conclusion I have come up with. I’m wondering if a heat gun bandaid trick will work on the cold solder joints.

Literally none of these steps have anything to do with the cause of white screen issues.

из

This issue started last night, I followed all the above steps, but nothing work with me, I connect my Mac to my tv and was able to see my files and transfer them to external driver, now that means the screen is damaged or it’s loose some where inside, the hinges are ok? Please advise

First, try an SMC and NVRAM reset (Google to find out how).

Was it dropped/knocked to cause this to happen? Has it suffered liquid damage?

i did but only the wgite screen pops up nothing else

Once you boot this, leave it for a couple of minutes. Do you hear the chime, and does the caps lock key light up green when pressed? If it does, it is an issue with the screen or screen circuit on the logic board. Open it up and first check the board for liquid damage or burnt components in the top right. Disconnect the battery and disconnect the screen cable to check this for burn pins, along with the screen connector. Then try reconnecting the screen cable, battery and see if this sorts the issue.

из

Holding down the power key for 60 seconds does not "reset" anything on Macs, and never has. You appear to be attempting to reference an SMC reset, which on OLD Macs involved disconnecting from power and disconnecting the battery and holding the power button for about ten seconds, but the is NOT how the SMC is reset in any recent machines, and never involved holding the power key longer than 10 seconds.
