i try to instal a 4 GB ram ( 2GB each) but it won't start.
my ram spec was DDR 2 2GB PC5300 667 MHz.
went i instal both 2GB ram the imac wont start at all, but went i replace one of them with the original 1GB ram it start and the imac reads 3 GB ram.
how to solve this problem?

Try installing each 2GB sticks in each on the slots one at a time to see if you have a bad slot or bad stick. Do you get any beeps or flashing lights when trying to start up?
1. i try instal both 2GB, it just make the disk drive to power up.
2. i try instal just one of 2GB ram in both slots, the indication still same with case 1.
3. i try to combine the 1 GB (original RAM) and 2 GB ram, it works fine, the apple logo appear and i check it reads 3GB rams.
ONE AT AT TIME. Take one of the two GB sticks and insert it then try starting up. Now move it to the other slot and try starting up. Check to see what the info says is installed each time. Now do the same with the other stick. You may have a bad stick or a slot that will only read 1 GB. Are you sure the RAM was made for MAC?
it doesn't work, well i guess it will only work if it had 1 GB installed first, if i try 2 GB only, it still won't start at all
The same problem happened to me a few months ago. I paniced, then thought:
Try resetting the PRAM. To do it, boot your computer holding 'alt + cmd + p + r' until it chimes three times (with an interval of time and some screen activity between them). Your computer should boot effectively now.
