Does anybody know of a source of the self-adhesive dark gray foam strips that fit between the digitiser and the LCD of the Envy Touchsmart 15-j113 and similar notebooks (between the fixing adhesive strip and the edge of the painted mask area) and whether or not they are important. It has just occurred to be that they may be conductive and thus form a grounding function.

Thanks very much for the link - it will be very useful as we see quite a few of these. It looks as though HP cannot supply any "sub-components" for the display as they consider the display assembly to be one spare part. Lets hope the owners have deep pockets!

Good luck. One suggestion is to download and save the file to a PC. It is not unknown for the link to 'disappear' sometime in the future and you will have nothing to relate to for information. Has happened to me. Was saving 'links' instead of files and got caught out when link was removed by manufacturer of equipment

I have been searching high and low for this adhesive/tape or whatever it is. I have a theory that by not replacing this tape/foam layer during iPad repairs is the leading cause of ghosting issues and problems with touch detection! I have just very carefully removed the glass from an iPad mini 2 so as not to completely damage this foam layer. However, it is difficult to keep it intact. Can't wait until somebody else in the "know" answers this query! Please!
