I recently purchased a 2GB RAM chip from memory-up.com so that I can increase the speed on my lagging 4 year old mac.
I haven't heard anything about formatting new RAM for your computer, although I suspect this is more than just a matter of plugging in and running. Do I need to do any installations? Do I need my operating system CD for this?
I've checked on a lot of threads and seen nothing on this subject. Any advice will help.

there is no need to "format" new RAM installed into your computer - just plug it in, and provided it is of the correct type and your computer supports the additional amount, the OS will recognize the additional memory.
