My 2005 Nissan Sentra runs great except when I start to accelerate to get speed, my rpms rev up and you can hear it. I try to coast as much as possible. I only drive no more then 5 miles a day no faster then 40 mph.

I can't be very specific but in general, this symptom usually points to a problem with the transmission, or if you have a straight shift, it probably means the clutch is slipping. On automatic transmissions, the shifting is often done by hydraulic pressure based on engine speed. If the system fails, it may require high engine speed to shift to the next gear or it may not shift to the next gear at all.

I have a 2014 Mercedes C Class auto, and when in drive, if I accelerate slowly,
the revs are way beyond to the gear I’m in. I have to stop the car, switch off and
restart the engine to reset the software.
I have same problem with mercedes v class, i off/on twice to have it back normal

@dwdrummerswife , Christi, You should stop driving the vehicle if transmission is indeed slipping, as you are going to cause extensive damage and expense. Check the transmission fluid level and fill to recommended level if low. If fluid level OK, take vehicle into a good shop, have Tech. take a look, diagnose and estimate repair. Mine too is doing the same thing, but it's a 2005 Renault Clio 1.2 litre with a standard gearbox
My car is doing the same Just got a transmission put in 2 days ago I drive freeway everyday If I go past 50 mph the rpm is over 4,000 you can hear the motor revn up loud Does this mean the computer just doesn't recognize there's a new transmission yet
My car has been doing that too 2018 Toyota Camry LE whenever i go 40mph its at 1500 and 55mph its at 2000 and when i brake at a red light complete stop its at 750 wont go down to 0 unless i turn my car off
Recently bought a 22 outlander and every once in a while the vehicle will run funny. Last night I was driving no faster than 30 and my rpm’s would go to the 2/3s while accelerating to 25. I haven’t contacted the dealership yet I took a video of the incident last night.
I've replaced the coil packs on my plugs and it fixed the problem. No longer does it and sounds allot better. Try that before taking it to a shop first.

Hi,just overhaul my automatic transmission,high revivving wen drving.
And takes long to change gear,mech says must run it in.
I got a 2001 sentra gxe and while in third gear I'd floor it and no movement whatsoever any ideas its a manual with about 213000 thousand miles when I purchased the vehicle I took it into jiffy lube to be serviced three different locations they all told me that my transmission drain plug was stripped and could not be removed any kind of knowledgeable information on this is greatly appreciated

i have a mercedez E 220 and it started one day not going to drive or reverse from park, i had to turn the engine on and off and keep trying several times until it goes to what i want it be be either reverse or drive. secondly on driving off the speed jumps from 6 to 8 or 10 mpw when am in a slow moving queue and i can hear the engine rev.

I have a 2015 chevy impala ltz that all of a sudden the engine revs too high when I take off or when the trans shifts. sometimes it revs as high as 5000 rpm

I have a 2016 Nissan Sentra 110,000 mile new transmission at 60,000 miles rpm rev up high under stress won’t go any faster not normal

I am having this problem with my 2010 Chevy traverse my rpm gets super high when I'm accelerating and will get above 4 at only 15mph and I can hear my engine get super loud so I let off gas and cruise until it gets down below 2 then I slowly pump my gas keeping rpm below 2 till I get up to 40 mph I was told could be a sincer for transmission that's bad my engine has about 250,000 miles on it I never go over 40 mph tho
