My samsung 40" LCD tv with model number LE40A656A1F stays on standby(redlght only) no light, no image, no sound.
Completely blank! What is the problem and what can I do?

jubril olabode, Reset procedure to try:
1. Hold (menu) and (vol-) button on the side of the TV
2. while holding these, press the power button on the side of TV (NOT remote)
3. Blue light comes ON and stays ON
4. Wait 10 seconds then let go of (menu) and (vol-)
5. wait another 30 seconds and some type of picture should appear, If that does not work, unplug TV for 10 minutes and then hold power button on TV for 60 seconds, plug in and turn on
If this does not do it, take the back of the TV and check for possible bad power supply/capacitors on the boards or you may have to replace board. See video links below for more detailed info. Good luck.

Thanks for your post! The 10 minute unplugged, 1 minute press power discharge allowed it to come back on. Any idea what this means or if there is any additional part to replace? I have an Element eleft502.
My lcd Samsung tv standby power is not coming on so I dnt know wat is the problem.
I have the same problem as Alter. Did the 10 minute unplugged 1 minute power. Plugged it back in and it came on for about 2 seconds and went to standby again. Any idea why? Thanks
I have the same problem too but my standby light blinks 4 four times, black screen then four times again. Pls help
I have Philips old TV 42 inches. I have lost my TV remote. When I on the power the red light blink off and on non stop. My side panel has power, Home , channel and vol button. So how to solve this problem without remote control. I have tried hold both vol(-) and Home and then press power button. Nothing happen. Can anyone help. Thank you

Join the class action law suit against them. Mine did the same thing, 6 million people have joined the suit but when I contacted to see just which two capacitors needed to be replaced, they acted like they had never heard of the problem.

Sorry meen mainboard conection block push down the voltage apear when release the presure voltage disapear
Vise led VKT 43U 501 model led is in stand by mode. All initial voltages are ok. After pressing stand by bottom several time , led light blinks once a time and pwer supply on/ off voltage came and again drop.

most of the modern lcd and led tv's when the standby light lights but the tv does not switch on especialy hisense samsung sansui etc .... means there is a problem on the power board and a leaking or dry electrolytic capacitor could be the culprit , so in most cases if you can work a soldering iron replace common capacitors like 1000uf 35v -470uf 35v -220uf 35v etc it could cost you a mere R30 rsa for the lot, also check on thatt same board for high voltage diodes that have a short circuit reading that prevents the power supply from switching on
