Battery Percentage is stuck when charging

Recently after updating my iPhone the percentage is stuck at a certain percentage and when you unplug the charger it will be at a different percentage and it's still frozen at the percentage , it only changes when you restart the phone and this will continue .

Also recently my iphone got water damange and the battery began to drain alot and to fix the soultion i bought a new battery im wondering if this is just a software update or has something to do with the water damage or new battery ?

i would really like some help

Mary “Novalliez” Owen, More then just a battery change should have taken place when the phone received water damage. Stop charging or powering up your device until the liquid damage is addressed correctly, as you could be shorting out components inside the phone. You really should take care of the corrosion that is happening inside the phone from the water damage as that could be your problem. A tear down link for your device Link #1, disassembly guide will enable you to get inside the phone to remove the damage/corrosion caused by the liquid. Use the 2nd link as a guide/instruction on how to clean/repair the device from liquid damage. Good luck.

For the cleaning instead of isopropyl alcohol i have surgical spirit will that be able to do the same job ?

Mary “Novalliez” Owen , I believe they may be the same, what you want when cleaning electronics is the high percentage 90% because of the high evaporation rate that will not harm electronics like lower percentage 70% may.

As stated above by L Pfaff, you should definitely clean the logic board, especially around the battery connector, with Isopropyl Alcohol.

Percentage not updating can be cause by a faulty battery, but more than likely it's a capacitor next to the battery connector that got damaged. In your case, you probably just need to have the shorted component replaced. You will need a micro soldering expert.
