I tried to fix the network on my mums pc and next think I know I clicked a button and it restarted when it started to turn back on it said 'performing automatic repair' and went onto a blue screeen which several options but all either just lead me back to that screen on wanted me to delete the memory

You mentioned that you clicked something? A lot of the times if you make a change to your computer you can boot into safe mode. This key stroke can differ from machine to machine. This will start windows in a previous known good state of Windows. It may or may not include networking. At this point you should be able to restore off your disk or recovery partition to repair problematic files and such.
