Have cracked digitizer screen.

I have a Chuwi HI10 Plus 10.8' screen. It feel about 2' onto a soft carpet and the screen now has 2 cracks across the screen and now the touch screen does not work. Chuwi will not respond to any correspondence I have used. I need to replace the screen. Anyone know the manufacturer and part number of this screen and where I can get one?

Thanks!

I have replaced the digitizing screen but the connector clamp that holds the ribbon cable tight in the connector was broken. I have not been able to get the cable to stay in the connector tight enough to work. Anyone know where I can get a replacement connector or know the manufacturer of teh connector? It is an 8 pin connect with .5mm pitch pins. I have found a few on the Digikey site but not completely sure of the fit or if I can get just 1. Thanks!

Can you dab some hot glue to hold the cable? Where did you get the parts? I just broke mine. Thanks and good luck.

Hey Josh, here is the link to where I purchased mine:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-8-inch-Touch-...

Make sure the one you get has the ribbin cable like the one shown in the picture. The first one I got wasn't close.

When you go to replacing the screen, be VERY, VERY careful. As I said in my original post I have had nothing but trouble trying to fir this thing. Right now I am having trouble getting it to boot up. :-(

Good luck if you decide to fix it yourself.

Thank you Michael. I bought one from that same seller, but with the exact part number I needed. Similar looking cable to yours with the chip in it, but slightly different. Now waiting on that slow boat....

Hope you get yours sorted.

I bought my replacement screen from AliExpress.com It wasn't that expensive and wasn't that difficult to replace. There are YouTube videos that tell you how to replace them. Just be careful and take your time. I have a H10 and an H10plus. Both got the screens cracked and I've had to replace both screens.

Here are a few links to some replacement digitizer's for this device the Chuwi hi10 plus. This is the part you want if the LCD still displays an image correctly but the front glass and digitizer we're damaged and the screen no longer responds to touch properly. If the LCD is damaged and does not display an image correctly you will also want to replace the LCD. I only gave links to replacement digitizer parts because I assume your LCD is functional. If the LCD was damaged too let me know and I can help find a replacement LCD and supply you with some links.

I posted below what I had to go through to replace the digitizer. Now the LCD is not working properly. It has a dark "vertical bar" on the left side of the screen. The edge seems to be exactly where the edge of the motherboard is. It almost looks like there should be some kind of shield between the MB and the LCD. I have re-inserted all the cables with no luck. Also, the digitizer is hit and miss as far as it working. The connector clamp was broke and glued when I first took the broken digitizer off. These units seem to be very cheaply made! I guess you get what you pay for!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

After ordering 2 screens finally found the right one on Ebay. Replacement is NOT for amateurs! This requires a complete disassembly of the computer. I tried to remove the digitizer from that side of the screen but the plastic cover was the only thing coming off. Once I got the back off and had the motherboard exposed, I had to disconnect 5 ribbon cables. Two of the connector clamps broke off one of which was for the digitizer. Once I had the display screen removed and only the digitizer and plastic "frame" was left I was able to remove the screen. I then put the computer back together except for the back. The digitizer did not work at first. I was able to position the ribbon cable so there was a slight downward force and that fixed the issue. I then glued the cable to the connector. All connectors have some glue on them. I think this is what caused the clamps to break. So I have the digitizer working but now I have a new problem. The left 25% of the display is dimmed more than the rest of the display. This is on Windows and Android. I have reset all cables (and glued) but I can't get this new problem to go away. Anyone have an idea what could have caused this? The display was working before I replaced the digitizer. Has some happened to the screen during this replacement that could have caused this?
