I hate it when mine does that! messes up my ollie and my Pop Shuvit fur shur! I gotta bail. Actually I'm a true Poseur.

If your skateboard is constantly turning or leaning towards the left or the right, there are a couple of possible causes. The most likely ones are either the bushings in your trucks, or your hardware.

Bushings are the hard, rounded plastic pieces in your trucks that squash down in the direction you are turning. They give varying levels of flexibility (usually measured in hardness such as - hard, medium or soft) to the turning capability of your trucks.

Your bushings could be a bit squashed on one side, this can happen when you are turning in one direction a lot. If this is the case, try and lean on the other side a bit, even if you aren't actually skating. This should even them up a bit. This tends to happen when a set of bushings are still fairly new. It can last for a couple of days up to a couple of weeks, it just depends how much you are skating.

Another possibility is that your bushings could be damaged. If there are cracks in them, it's a good sign that this could be the cause. You will probably need to replace them if this is the case.

The hardware I am referring to here is the set of bolts that hold your trucks to the board and your kingpin which runs through your truck and bushing.

It may simply be a case of your kingpin being a bit too loose or not quite set straight, in this case you will either need to tighten it up, or straighten it up.

It is also possible that some of the bolts may not be done up tight enough and the truck is twisting slightly. You should just need to tighten up the loose bolts. Most of the time it will sit straight simply by threading the bolts through the holes in the board and the truck, but sometimes there is a bit of wiggle room that can put them slightly out if the bolts are a little loose.

You're such a radical dude!

@refectio I have grandchildren and have to fix their boards. I'm expected to know how to fix anything.

из

Still radical! Your grandkids are very lucky. You and @oldturkey03 will never cease to amaze me.

из

Thanks bro, I'm a beginner and am still getting used to how my (new) board feels, so when you said it could be because the bushings are new, that helped thanks!

из

thanks, i think it's because my board is new because i only got it yesterday so thank you.

In skateboarding, we don’t always pass by the same surfaces. Some are rough; others are shiny smooth, and a few sit in between. And while different skating styles require varied decks, riding on these surfaces also demands the best wheels.

Do you want to know what rollers work for each skating platform? Let’s begin with the comparison of soft VS hard skateboard wheels.

you should never use WD-40 on bearings. WD-40 dries out and you want the bearings to be lubricated. You need to get some speed cream, it's just as inexpensive and works a dream.

do. not. wd-40. your. bearings. ever.

Hi there skatehomies,

I recently bought a new deck and a pair of trucks. They’re from an unknown brand called Iron, because my cheap ass didn’t want to pay the full price for indy’s, but the guy in the skateshop assured me they were good. In the beginning it was horrible to skate them, they kept getting stuck to the side I last leaned on. After a while it was only to right side, I’m goofy. Leaning on the other side or skating switch did not help. It got so bad I returned to the skateshop and they gave me a new pair of bones hardcore medium bushings. I really like them and no turning to one side until after two hours of skating same thing again, my board keeps turning to the right. I’ve tightened the hardware, replaced the bearing and the problem still occurs. It’s very annoying, throws me off balance. I don’t really know what to do. I also don’t wanna break the new bushings. Anybody who can help?

hi, im goofy too and i get the same problem, the way ive tried to fix the problem is by skating with the board backward, so having the tail where my front foot is and the nose where my back foot is. this evened it out a bit but i dont really know.

Being a senior skateboarder, I have gone through such situations so many times in my skateboarding career. There can be some major reasons for this failure. Here are these:

1- The surface you are riding might have a bending area on the left

2- The wheels or the trucks can be loosened or not attached professionally

3- Your style and level of riding the skateboard are not up to the mark.

4- You have an inappropriate skateboard and its components

5- Or you are riding the skateboard with the wrong setup

If your skateboard is consistently turning left more than you want it to, there may be a few reasons why. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Your trucks may be too loose on one side. Try tightening the trucks on the side where the skateboard is turning too much.
  2. Your wheels may be worn down unevenly. Check to see if the wheels have worn down more on one side than the other. If this is the case, you may need to rotate or replace the wheels.
  3. Your stance may be affecting your balance. If you're consistently leaning more to one side while riding, this could be causing your skateboard to turn more in that direction. Try adjusting your stance and see if it makes a difference.
  4. Your deck may be warped or damaged. Check your skateboard deck for any signs of warping or damage, such as cracks or splits. If you notice any damage, it's best to replace the deck.

The trucks are the metal parts that attach the wheels to the deck. If one truck is tighter than the other, it can cause the skateboard to turn in that direction. Check the tightness of both trucks and make sure they are evenly adjusted.
