This sounds like +S more than Disk Utility, are you sure you haven't got the two mixed up?

Disk utility gives these messages too, if you read the console thing it displays.

Ah, the log, I see now

Hi! If you could please provide some more info -- is your laptop not booting up to its internal hard drive, or is it just not seeing your external hard drive? Have you tried using Disk Utility repair function? If your internal drive is not bootable, have you tried booting from the restore media and reinstalling the OS (which will not affect your files, etc., as long as you don't choose to do a clean install)?

Thanks

The laptop boots up just fine, and the repair function is not able to do it's job. I am interested in this other option you mention "restore media and reinstalling the OS" have you done this in the past and how do I go about it?

Well, what you need to do is boot from your install disk, open Disk Utility, and repair your drive.

Or boot into single user mode and type fsck -fy until your drive is completely repaired.

It will not repair it, I did execute this process to no avail.

Hello Machead, I will consider this option as the last one; but ultimately I think it's going to be the only option I fear.

Then I'd go with a backup and replacement (or you could try reformatting), but it sounds fatal.

If you have access to another computer you can backup the data on the drives.

Your HD Master Directory is severely hosed, so much so that DiskUtility or FSCK can't repair it.... TechToolPro©, DriveGenius© or DiskWarrior© may be able to rebuild the directory (but after a rebuild I would copy all essential files, and reformat, reinstall OS)

Good Luck,

N.
