ODD Temp Sensor Cable & AHT

Update - unfortunately need further advice...

After having replaced the missing temp sensor cable with the OWC-solution as recommended, I still have to deal with fan(s) running at full speed. Unbelievable, but I noticed another missing cable! The "ODD temp" connector socket is empty. I then removed all connectors and took out the complete logicboard, hoping to find a loose cable behind it, but: no!

As I wasn't sure what to do next, I first of all got myself the app "TG pro" and took a photo of some of the info provided. I hope someone will thus be able to guide me on my way of fixing my good old one. Thanks for your attention,

Ulli

NB: I also wanted to try the AHT - but neither pressing D nor ALT-D while booting works- I can't find my installation disk anymore and haven't found a download link yet either...

HI Dan,

I can't add a screnshot in a comment, can I? At least, that's why I'm posting an answer...

Do you have an idea, how I can get hold of the "Apple Hardware Test"?

You'll need the original grey disks that came with your system, or create a bootable drive and download the AHT from Apples web site. I don't think it will help you here TG Pro did ID the failed sensor as the LCD.

Well, Thats a good mystery!

The ODD sensor is the sensor thats mounted on the optical drive case. Review this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 Optical Drive Replacement. Jump the Steps 11 & 17 which its connected to the logic board and the sensor its self. The sensor cable Optical Temp Sensor - Apple P/N 922-9229

If the Optical drive fan is defective follow this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 Optical Drive Fan Replacement and this is the part: Optical Fan - Apple P/N 922-9150

I think I see what happened here! You forgot to plug the LCD sensor back in. Review this IFIXIT guide: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 Display Replacement jump down to Step8 is it plugged in?

Dan, thanks for hanging on. Checked the cable, felt plugged in properly. The issue, I guess, is the missing ODD-cable which I'm going to order now. There are even some remains of the glue sticking on the optical drive case...

I just can't believe it - what a f... computer shop I gave my iMac to for an initial graphics card repair. I sent an email to the owner and complained about the missing HDD temp sensor cable two weeks ago and he couldn't even be bothered to reply. Paying about $ 75 just for two missing cables which had been there before is quite a nuisance...
