New iMac 27 with second hard drive SSD?

Hi!

Configuring my new iMac i saw that apple offers the current iMac with a second hard drive, an SSD. Now I was wondering if I and how I can add an SSD drive to my iMac, which I did receive just a week ago, but due to high price without an SSD.

So: does anybody know how and if a second drive (SSD) can be added?

Thanks in advance.

Daniel

So you want to keep the current hard drive and add a second drive running simultaneous dual drives right? Well I was taking a look at the pictures of the logic board on this iMac and it looks like it has an extra SATA data slot for an additional drive. You will need a Y splitter cable to turn the single power slot into 2 female SATA power connections.

The SSD fits right next to the HDD and you would need to figure out how you will hold it in place since you don't have the caddy for the SSD. Take a look at step 18 picture #2 of this guide to see the SATA connections on the board: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 Teardown

Also take a look at this article I found: http://blog.macsales.com/6332-27
