My phone will not open when it is asleep and I tap 2 times

It will open only after I press the power button on the back. I dont have to hold it long enough to power off then back on. Screen works fine once it opens.

Try making a phone call, and see if the screen shuts off when you put your ear to the speaker. If the screen does not black out when you block the sensor, you likely have a faulty proximity sensor.! This would cause the double tap to wake to not function properly.
