Audio not working. Think I blew something up.

I had the speaker output from my stereo going into the line input jack on my MacBook and I accidentally turned up the volume way too loud and the computer just shut off.

When I went back in, I checked the input section in settings and nothing was there, nor were there any outputs and when I played a youtube video, no sound came out.

So does anyone know what I blew up, where it is and how I can check it?

TIA

Does the audio port have a red light in it?

I would first try resetting Pram and Smc, in case it is just a glitch. If those don't give you your sound back, it's basically useless to open the Mac searching for blown components.

Audio input is filtered by resistors and capacitors, but if you have no output sound either it means the filter system got crushed and possibly a surge went all the way up to the audio codec.

There are tenths of components involved there and nothing replaceable without testing and soldering.

OK. Ill try that then. I m almost positive its a surge and not a glitch because the volume was turned up WAY to high and it just shut off. Im pretty sure I blew something up. Im thankful though its just part of the audio because this is a laptop I use in school and its not very often I use sound
