Can I replace the trackpad on a Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro Retina?

My trackpad will work for about a minute or so after startup and then stops completely. Is it possible to replace this part? I don't see any parts or instructions on iFixit. Many thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Let me correct both answers here as they are both wrong!

While the Both the 13" & 15" models use the same procedure MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Trackpad Replacement to gain access to the trackpad (technically a touchpad). The 13” model uses a different part MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Trackpad which won’t work in your 15” model.

You need this part: MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Trackpad.

@ajcooke01 - Replacing the full uppercase is not really needed here.

I have found that just replacing the cable works fine. There is very little that can fail on the trackpad. MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Trackpad Cable

The original question referred to the 15" model, the answer mentions the 13" model. There seems to be a significant difference because in the 15" model you need to replace the whole upper case of the body ... is this true?

BTW: I'm having the same issue with the track pad and need a solution.

Cheers, Carsten

With the 15" late 2013 MacBook Pro you must replace the whole upper case (keyboard/trackpad/battery) you can not swap out the trackpad by itself. I have the same issue and having a hard time finding a replacement. My trackpad has a problem of not comming back up after you click it. Other than that it works. Anyone have any ideas to fix this issue?

by

@repairdoc This is incorrect, you must replace the entire upper case assembly on this model for a trackpad replacement. Also, it is not a 13”, rather it is a 15”.

by

Thanks... what I found when I got in there was it was the battery that needed to be replaced to fix it.

by

@rich890m I am experiencing the same issue as well. Are you saying it's the battery is responsible for the trackpad not giving feedback when pressed? My MacBook Pro (15" late 2013) is telling me to replace my battery soon. Could this be the reason why my trackpad is acting that way?
