I turn on my SNES, but there is only a black screen.

Well, I saw someone else's post here, and figured I would attempt my own. I purchased an SNES the other day, but to my dismay, I am only getting a black screen.

Things I've tried:

Multiple Televisions
I tried different AV cables, also tried RF cables
I tried ejecting and inserting the game multiple times
I tried multiple games

Things I know:

When powering on the machine, the TV acts as if there is an input, giving off a sort of flicker, and then goes to the 'AV No Signal'
I AM getting power to the device, the red light is on

If anyone might be able to help me, it'd be much appreciated.

You may want to open it up, and check for damage to the motherboard, or corrosion, that may be causing it not to function. Here is a guide that you can use to get to it.

could it be a short in the power cable? & is there buzzing coming from the TV speakers? because i'm having the exact same problem. with the buzzing.

I have the exact same issue. Black screen with no sound and no buzzing, but the TV detects a signal. LED is on, and there is no corrosion at all, no swollen caps, nothing wrong at all. I did replace the power input port on the console with another one which is approximately the same size, but I am still using an NES-002 ac adapter (I think that's the right one for an SNES).

I have replaced the 120v, 1.5A fuse as well. I should also add that this is a 1992 GPM-01 console, so there is no C67 cap to replace.

I have a laser thermometer if anyone knows what I should look for as far as warm components go...

Its worth looking into replacing the CIC chip on the board. The one you would need is the "LOCK" one. Of course this may not be the issue but if you are ok with soldering on the board and you can get the PIC chip easily I would recommend trying it since you've tried everything else.
