How do I fix blurry printing, already tried all the basic diagnostics?

HP Officejet Pro 8600Plus printing is blurry and light for all colors but blue. Was printing fine with refilled cartridges until a few weeks ago. Black ink got low and replaced with brand new HP black ink. Here's what I've tried multiple times that didn't help. What else can I try please?

-Clean printhead

-Align printhead

-Reset printer by unplugging several minutes

-Printing test page: blue boxes look fine. Yellow, red and blackall have vertical lines and faded colors. Black text is blurry and faded. Test pattern lines do not connect fully.

-Printing 20 black text pages to see if problem "resolved itself" as HP site says!!

Wear gloves.

Put print head in plastic dish with warm water and then put print head in plastic dish with alcohol. Do it over again one time. Put little amount of liquids to cover the head. Don't cover the board. Clean the board with alcohol.

Then dry it out and insert it on printer.and then rerun all checks.

If not work change the print head.

Hi, I have a similar problem, black prints blurry for the first try...this occurs even if it's only been a few days since last print job. If I reprint immediately , it does fine. I recently cleaned the print head, does it need to be done again?

Above solutions did not help. What did solve the issue was removing the recently replaced color ink cartridge and setting the printer to print in greyscale (black and white). It’s something to do with the color ink cartridge. I am going to return the cartridge to Walmart in hopes that the next one will not have the same problem.

There are times when your printer might be printing blurry images. This happens to be a common phenomenon with all printers and is more likely to happen after you start using your printer after a long gap of time.

Nothing to worry though as the issue can be remedied easily. In fact, all printers come with a built-in mechanism to deal with just such a scenario. Read on to find out the solution to the problem!

How can I fix the printer that prints blurry? You can start by checking the ink levels and alignment from the maintenance page. If that doesn’t help, the issue might be clogged print head nozzles, so be sure to clean them. Lastly, you can also try updating drivers to the latest version and check if that helps.

1. Check ink levels

A good first step for you to do will be to see if the printer has enough ink in its repository. Printers of every kind allow the users to check the ink level, which can be either via PC or straight off from the printer device itself.

Since this process is different for every printer, be sure to check the user manual for specific instructions. The associated printer app should have the necessary information and will let you know if the ink levels are within normal limits.

2. Clean print head nozzles

This again is something that needs to be done periodically as the nozzles often tend to get choked, more so if the printer has been sitting idle for a considerable period of time. That is also precisely the reason the printer also comes with a self-cleaning operation to clean choked nozzles.

However, all printers have their own unique ways to initiate the cleaning process, so be sure to check out your printer manual. A perfect process of cleaning can fix hp printer blurry print or hp printer printing double print. However, a general rule of thumb is that the process can be started from within the maintenance section. Also, it might be necessary for the cleaning operation to be performed multiple times for a good and thorough cleaning job.

3. Check alignment

Alignment of the print cartridges or toners can also be equally important in determining the quality of the print. So, check to see if the alignment is perfect for the type of print you need.

If need be, perform the alignment operation multiple times until the desired result is obtained. Refer to company manual for steps on this though this is another option that is usually found in the maintenance section.

4. Settings issue

Most printers allow the user to set the quality of the print. Those can vary from draft quality to anything resembling best quality. Changing the setting to that which offers the highest quality of prints can also solve the issue of blurry prints.

5. Use the right paper

Poor quality of paper used for printing can also lead to blurry prints. That makes it important that you use paper of the right quality that can be the best match for your printer, or for that matter, the type of ink that the printer uses. Using the right sized paper is equally important for getting the best quality prints each time.

6. Update printer software

If you have tried everything else and you still have blurry prints, you should consider updating your printer software. In any case, it is always a great idea to keep software updated to the latest build at all times.

To do this, you can either head to the company site and check if there is a new update available for the particular model of your printer.

Or you can do it via Device Manager. Here are the steps:

  1. Open Device Manager. Type Device Manager in the Cortana search box and select it from the search result.
  2. In the Device Manager window, locate your printer and expand the same.
  3. Right click on the particular printer of your and select Update driver.
  4. You will have two options to update, either automatically or manually.
  5. Go for the automatic option which is more hassle-free.
  6. Or if you have manually downloaded the update, you can opt for the second choice, that of manually installing the updates.
