i need to find the diagnostic codes for my 2001 kia optima with out going to a place that would charge me to run a diagnostic on my car.

where would i find the diagnostic codes?

It is just under the dash, to the right of the steering wheel facing forward.

Mine is next to the battery and has a cover over it says diagnosis 2004 kia optima
