Why does my alcatel android phone drop calls after a short conversatio

Just clarifying that the call is still connected but you cannot be heard by the other end, not that the call has dropped out completely and you have to make / receive a new call.

If the call is still there and you cannot be heard try using the earphones with the microphone attachment on a call and check whether you can be heard OK for the duration of the call.

If you can be heard when using the external microphone, then it indicates that there may be a problem with the phone's internal microphone OR perhaps the voice inlet hole, located on the bottom edge of the phone may be being obstructed by lint etc.

Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to check if it may be blocked. If it is (or even if you can't tell) try using a vacuum cleaner to clear the obstruction. DO NOT use a pin or probe to try and clear it as it may damage the microphone which is directly behind the hole.

If this does not resolve the problem, there may be a problem with the internal microphone. The phone would need to be opened and inspected as to what the problem may be.

If you still cannot be heard when using the external microphone, then there is a problem with the voice transmission circuitry on the systemboard of the phone.

If the calls actually drop out, what are the signal strength bars on the phone showing as to the strength of the network signal (if you are using the phone network) or if you are using an app to make calls it may be using the WiFi network that you are connected to, what's the signal strength of it on the phone?
