Why aren't my menu buttons working after I replaced my card reader.

I replaced the card reader successfully. However the ribbon cable that contract the menu buttons seems to be damaged. What is it called specifically so I can replace it? Or can it be repaired? There seems to be some slight scoring on the copper connectors.
