Stange lines appear on iPod Touch screen, like power surges?

Upon start up and while charging strange little lines appear over iPod logo and over battery meter. Doen not seem to affect performance but is strange. Help

it may be power surges.. is there a pattern to them/flickering etc. I'd try cleaning the dock connector and also checking my charger and USB cable for continuity. It may be that after all this time the cable is damaged internally or the pins are shorting.

It may be LCD on the way out but I would have expected the light problem to be there all the time.

Either way I'd want to check it our before my ipod became a brick

Thanks. The problems seems to be occuring more frequently, not just during start up or charging. I'm thinking that I should contact apple. Thx again
