iMac Running too hot?

Hi, I've had an external fan blowing hard on my Mac for a while now as the vent along the top of my iMac gets burning hot. So I've downloaded a temp/fan app, but can't seem to find anywhere that lists what temperatures/fan speed are optimum. Can anyone tell me if the following are acceptable, thanks very much, Gareth

Temp

Ambient temperature 37C

Fan Speeds

ODD 1000 - 1203 - 3484

HDD 1100 - 2576 - 5500

CPU 940 - 1510 - 3646

if it is running hot, there are one of three problems (all of which should be solved)

1: the fans/ whole inside of the system are clogged with dust. Vacuum it all out and clean out the fans.

2: the thermal paste on the processor (CPU) is dry. This is very likely since the machine is around 13 years old.

3: the fans may not work. If the fans are audibly spinning, then this should not be the problem, but there may be one out. If you are not sure of the fan’s functionality, then install the app Macs Fan Control using this link:Macs Fan Control

After you do this, monitor the rpm (speed of the fans to ensure that they are all working. If any are at 0 RPM, they are broken or are not connected.
