Panasonic TX-P50G10B - Not turning on - Red Light 3 Blink Error

Hi,


I've got a Panasonic TX-P50G10B Plasma which blinks red 3 times when turning on. I tried changing the power board however that didn't help, and upon further research I found the manual for the TV which said the A (AV) board is the suspect. I changed it with a board from eBay however the problem persisted. I assumed it was a bad board so returned it and bought a new one.

I fitted the new one today and the result is different;

  • Before: Plug power in, press power button, TV tries to boot up (green for a few seconds) then 3 red blinks.
  • Now: Plug power in, press power button, TV is in standby (solid red). Pressing On with remote turns the light to flashing green then green, no picture (or noise of TV turning on). Holding a TV Vol button whilst pressing On button tries to boot up TV and then the 3 red lights blink again.

So I’ve changed the suspect board twice now, and still have a 3 light error, with slightly different results.

Could it be?

1) Something shorting the board somewhere else in the TV which has broken the 2 new boards as I put them in.

2) Both boards have been bad.

3) TVs just busted.

In my case I have 2 red lights blinking after power on. According to the manual, it should be an error on 15V SOS on A-board. I measured the DC output on P25, P6 and P7 connectors and I have 0V on all pins. I measured the output with both the cables connected to A-board and even with the cables unplugged on P-board but same result (0V on all pins).

Does it mean the problem is on P-board not providing any output?

you did not tell us what you got with the old power board. for now I would only consider to check on this “Plug power in, press power button, TV is in standby (solid red). Pressing On with remote turns the light to flashing green then green, no picture (or noise of TV turning on).  “ not about what happens with vol - button etc. Measure the output from the power board (must be 5V on pin 9 on connector P25 as well as pin 5 and 6 and 15V on pin1 and 2) to the A-board and see if you have the voltages required. Remember that the STB5V from your power board is applied to the 3.3V regulator to power the main CPU on the A-board. The only IC’s that can trigger the 3blink code are all located on the main board, thus it is always the A-board. Post some pictures of all of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that.
