Is the LCD screen only broken or are there any other damages?

My screen started malfunctioning suddenly; the backlight seems to be weak, colors are not normal and the screen retains some ghost images. In the photos it may not be visible but the screen has also an orange tone instead of white.

I checked the settings on the accessibility menu and are okey.

Hard reset and restore don’t seem to solve it.

I replaced the screen a year ago, but I checked the connectors inside and seem to be okey.

Is the screen just defective, or is the motherboard damaged?

Thanks for the help!

Sounds like bad display. I would buy a part from iFixit since they generally have good parts, and they do an awful lot of good for the repair community and DIY folks. eBay and Amazon parts are bottom of the barrel, so avoid those.

It looks like an aftermarket screen I installed once which was not quite the right color and had an odd line or two running through it. I’d recommend replacing the screen since it could just die.

The iFixit parts are high quality and reliable.

Well I tried to post links to vendors I've had good experiences with who sell that part for $20 or less, but got docked 200 rep for doing so and the comment was deleted. ah well.

So to be clear, you think that iFixit should pay people to write tear down guides, buy the devices they dissect for all of us, pay for the upkeep and infrastructure to host this forum so that Bruno can get an answer to his question---FOR FREE---and sell DIY folks screens for $20....or YOU think it is appropriate for unvetted cheap parts sellers to get a free link to their product on this forum.

Way to go moderators (who also work for free) for keeping the links for competitors off this forum!

I meant no offence, just to offer options. I very much respect this website and those who manage it. I understand the reasoning. At the end of the day, I was just trying to be helpful in presenting other options. I have no horse in the race (I am just a technician with a lot of experience in sourcing parts, I don't work for any competing vendors or have any interest in pushing one vendor over another, just thought it might be helpful)

My apologies to all.

My original comment with links was re-posted by ifixit mods after review, but I have deleted it out of respect for this site and their parts.

There are plenty of good vendors out there. I think the r/mobilerepair subreddit has done a lot of good work vetting vendors and providing information on what's out there and is worth checking out.
