Flip 4's battery runs out quickly and other problems.

My Flip 4, only bought it for like half an year, is having a battery issue where it runs real quick. And when it charges, I find some problems like stopping the blink (which indicates it is being charged) stops at 4 point and never run to 5th unless I plug it in, again. And the sounds are getting distorted when the light hit red which indicates the battery has run short. I get it if the battery is efficiently using the juice by not using its full sound quality but when I turn up the volume at that moment, the battery runs out and the speaker shuts down. I bought it as my travel accessory and it doesn't quite help me with my purpose.

When I first bought my flip the battery lasted 3 hours . Now only 1 hour I bought a back up power pack to have additional play time

My flip won’t even make the sound confirming a connection anymore, it’ll charge but no matter for how long its plugged in or how many times I replug it in, it will not play music. It will turn blue on the power button to show I’ve connected but no sound plays and the audio is out of my phone. Is this still a battery issue?

My Flip 4 has exactly the same problem!

Mine also last about 6~8 months, then the problems charging started with the poor battery time.

JBL should take a look at these faulty batteries, in the future I'll give Sony a chance when I choose a new portable speeker.

I upgraded the software in the speaker via the Jbl Connect app. Seems to have fixed my charging issue. Guess the software wasn’t mapping the battery correctly. Mines about 18 months old and is used daily.

Mine too same problem. This is the second unit. First one had this issue and got it replaced. Now same problem for the second unit too.

If your JBL Flip 4 speaker will not charge or won’t hold a charge, see the JBL Flip 4 Will Not Charge Or Won’t Hold a Charge problem page for possible causes and solutions.

All of this sounds like a failed battery. I would suggest that you replace it and then re-evaluate your Flip4. This video will show you how to replace it.

To me personally JBL needs to give these batteries out to people for free since it is a defected item that they are selling

this is caused by the sound quality (especially bass), it is too much!! The battery cant handle it. Just make sure the volume is not too high just keep volume 50% and below, i think that can save a battery's life. When a battery is damaged you cannot play your speaker while a charger is connected because the bass is too much. JBL Bluetooth speakers are not good enough . Just get a sound bar from JBL, it is better

But if the bass levels were to much, they wouldn’t have made it where the bass is that good and to much for the battery. But the problem is, I never had this issues no matter how loud I played it, it would last up to 10 hours of play time on full volume and 12 hours of play time below 50%. I never had any issues with it and I got mine Last year in 2019 in the beginning of 2019. Never had issues until a year and almost a half later. I’ve just now started experiencing these issues.

Upgrade software through JBL connect app. Not a battery issue.

Thank you for this! Didn’t realize that you can upgrade its firmware. I thought this is just a connect and play bluetooth speaker. I just updated my firmware through the JBL app. My Flip 4 is now on its 3 song which is a good sign. Prior to the upgrade, it dies before the 2 song is over. I’m testing it now and it seems to be working properly. Listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit by the way. I strongly recommend updating your firmware first before cracking open your Flip 4 and change the batteries yourselves.

I have same problem.. done the software upgrade. Did not work. I bought 10 dollar Bluetooth speaker at kmart top ryde. It's better than jbl FLIP 4 which I bought sale at jbhifi hornsby australia for 99 dollars. Had enough of jbl. Im having high blood pressure for just using it. Always shutdown and doesn't charge even though it is plugged.

@acguevara1982 hey is your bbl working fine still after the upgrade? i did the software upgrade and it's still the same. jbl speaker sucks.
