Keyboard and trackpad issues

Hi guys!

My MBP 2015 is running the latest Mojave. Since yesterday, it has started acting weird and that both keyboard and trackpad stopped responding while in use. However, I’ve managed to shut the device down and powered it up again and this time it has back to normal. This morning, same issue has come back to the surface again! Any advice/help please?

A repair company authorized by Apple change a keyboard cable and it work for quite bit and then stop working, I told them again about problem they told me that we have to change your trackpad and keyboard .

Any advice/help please?

Usually on this model it's the trackpad cable that goes bad since it runs over the battery making it get damaged easily as it rubs against the bottom cover of the MacBook. I wonder if just reseating would fix it.

I've heard on iFixit that it can also be caused by viruses on your MacBook but I don't have much info on that so hopefully someone can chime in with more information on that.

No, haven't seen virus issues causing this. As both keyboard & trackpad effected its more likely the battery. But the track cable is more exposed and could also need replacing.

Most likely your battery has swelled up pressing on the cables.

Check your battery using CoconutBattery post a snapshot of the main window here so we can see Adding images to an existing question.

I would try a clean install of macOS to rule out any software issues here. Back up all your data, and complete this guide here.

Does viruses or malware can do that?

@dr_atf It's possible, but unlikely.
