Fastest user-upgradeable 13" MacBook Pro?

Gday gentlemen.

As above, I'm looking for the last (and fastest) version of the unibody 13” Macbook Pro to use as a portable powerhouse due to changing work requirements. I have a few 17 and 15 inchers and they're either getting on in age with regards to performance or too heavy and bulky when on the go. Big screens are not much use now that I've got second displays everywhere. Sure there are many competent Windows laptops but not many are pleasant to use at this size, or cheap enough, or have the long-term reliability and parts availability of a Mac.

The general consensus is the mid-2012 non retina but I'd like to confirm it with you DIY experts first (models, emc#, versions). It'll be upgraded to 16GB-1600 and 2 SSDs in RAID0 (with a caddy pulled from my 17” - it'll fit right?) Is this the one? https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup...

Thank you Arbaman for answering and the additional information which is very useful. Thank you Mayer for the tip, was also not aware of the cabling differences, will see which is inside the one I end up buying. Does the mini SATA connector for the optical drive need to be upgraded as well or is that dependent on the quality of the caddy's adapter?

Yes, you’re right and the results of your search are correct, latest 13” Macbook Pro with replaceable RAM and drive is the one you linked, EMC 2554, with the 2,9Ghz i7 model being the fastest. It was manufactured until October 2016 thus you might find around some used machines in pretty good shape or maybe even some stray new one. Most however will be available with i5 Cpu, faster and more expensive i7 are somewhat rare. The caddy will fit in, the Super Drive model (optical drive) was the same size for both.
