Battery icon still has a cross after new battery

I have replaced the battery with an IFixIt battery replacement. All was pretty straightforward and simple to do. However, on booting up I can’t get it charge or the dead battery icon to go away.

-Reset SMC and PMU (Many times).

-Unplugged and plugged in battery connector

-Charged overnight

-Reinstalled OS/ reset disk.

The battery stats when booted (with power cord in) are all zero and no battery recognised.

It looks like the new battery control board is not reporting in correctly but not sure what to try now.

What was happening with the old battery?

из

I think this happened with the old battery (wife's computer) which is why I ordered the new one.

I have tried a different new battery just in case the one I had was faulty but it has the same results.

Specifically was getting a black cross on the battery icon and computer shutting down.

Unfortunately the same result with two different batteries leaves us with a bad charging circuit. You may try replacing the I/O board where you have part of the power/charging circuit as next and hopefully problem solving step: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 I/O Board Replacement

Thanks - just checking it's the IO required and not the Magsafe DC board?

Second computer at the same time with a new battery went through a breeze.

Silly me, I apologize and thanks for correcting me and my wrong advice, been working the last three days mostly on Mackooks Air and mixed up the two..maybe I need a holiday ? ;) Magsafe board won't likely need any replacement since it's a very basic board, a first protection stage with few components and if it was faulty you wouldn't even have a green light and Mac wouldn't boot. Unfortunately, unlike in Macbook Air, in the Macbook Pro the charging circuit is all on the logic board and the two alternatives are just a component level repair or a board replacement.

Big thanks to the mod who corrected my previous "answer" :))
