MacBook says new battery is damaged?

I installed a new battery without any issues…except…the final low-voltage pre-charging step never got to a “ding” and the unit would not power on. I left it plugged into the iPhone adapter for 12+ hours…still nothing.

Finally I plugged it into the factory charger. I got the ding and it powered up , however it stated that there wasn’t any battery. After a couple of hours the unit powered off (or crashed…I don’t know). When I powered it on again, it told me that there was battery, but it was damaged (it would not charge and it stayed at 0% for several hours until I finally shut down the laptop).

Any ideas? Bad battery? Did I screw up the install? I reopened the unit and tripled checked all of the connections. Everything appears fine. When it was running everything worked fine (Wifi, bluetooth, keyboard, mouse, scree, audio, etc.) just no battery. Thanks in advance!

Put the original battery back. If everything works, your replacement battery is bad. It happens.
