iPhone 6 Plus Battery Replacement - "Battery Health" issue.

I’m on the latest iOS… so I am starting a new question.

I just replaced the battery using iFixit battery kit (which was awesome!).

Now, the battery health doesn’t seem to function correctly. It won’t give status of the battery in %.

Before I changed the battery, the origional Apple battery showed 84% and I had a couple of crashes with warnings due to the battery.

Now, I have read that even if one was to take advantage to Apple’s Battery Replacement Program, this issue would still happen on the Apple batteries.

There must be some ‘reset’ function in the OS to get the proper reading on the battery…

What is it?

iFixit says that on their replacement batteries they do not support the battery health reading so it'll show up like that in the image.

The worn out original battery with shut down problem can be replaced by apple and the same shutdown issue should not occur once the battery has been replaced.

If the phone works fine I would not worry about the battery health feature.

I question this answer, because I mentioned that not only iFixit batteries are not working with the battery health feature, but I read other Apple replacement batteries are also not working on the software.

iFixit needs to collaborate with Jessa Jones at iPad Rehab, to figure out a solution so there parts are 100% compatible.

I had to fix my phone myself due to a soda spill on it, and it was inside the phone. I had to take apart the phone, and use rubbing alcohol on the board( although, the water indicator was still white) I caught it early. I got lucky!

Due to the fact Apple would have just given me grief by saying the phone has liquid in it. It was more of a hassle then what it was worth to get Apple to replace the battery.

The battery kit was on sale at Fry's and was perfect for what I needed, I am just disappointed that the battery is not compatible with this 'software' issue now.

iFixit lists on their product page in the notes that their aftermarket batteries do not support the battery health feature: iPhone 6 Plus Battery

Some aftermarket batteries have aftermarket or original gas gauges that have been programmed with fake info or have been reset. More info is here which goes very technical:

I've got the exact answer for this case!

I have an iphone 6S and it showed that battery status 'SERVICE' and maximum capacity 39%, although I changed old battery to a new aftermarket battery(by Nohon).

Another NORMAL battery(Not showing 'SERVICE') can help this situation.

1. just connect NORMAL battery

2. turn on the iPhone

3. check battery information (Not 'SERVICE')

4. turn off

5. connect NEW battery

6. turn on / check battery info. (Not 'SERVICE') !!!!

That's it!!!

For your happy life~~ ^^
