How to remove the ARROW DOWN key from keyboard?

I have managed to unclip the ARROW DOWN key by moving a plastic from center to the left of the key. But the bottom is still in place. Are there other clips? How to completely remove the key?

Hello,

Just to follow up on this issue, I reached Apple and it insisted that I went to the nearest Apple Store to have a look at the issue, as sending through mail was not permitted. The nearest Apple Store required me to take an airplane, so that was a no-go. So I had to find a way to fix it myself or live with a broken key.

I ended up removing the key completely by snapping out the bottom-left snap. Indeed the case was that the top-right hinge came out before the bottom-left snap, and it was slightly damaged.

I ordered a new key from ReplacementLaptopKeys and it came with the same damage I described. It seems it’s really too easy to damage that hinge. So I ordered a new one from TheBookyard.com and this time, the snaps and hinges were perfect.

The only difference in the keys ordered from the original one was that the ordered keys were of a slightly lighter shade of black, a difference only visible to the most trained eyes.

Anyway, the key is working perfectly now, (almost) as new. Thank you all.

Call Apple directly at 1-800-MYAPPLE. Tell them there is not a local store, request a free Depot Repair. Do not tell them that you took the key off. It just fell off. They will usually have a FedEx box on your doorstep the next morning. Pack it up and drop it off with FedEx. You should have it fixed and back in three days. Seriously consider taking out an addition 2 years of warranty by picking up AppleCare. You might discuss this with the Apple Agent on the phone. These machines are almost totally unrepairable by third parties. Also be sure to back up your data before sending it in using a Time Machine backup to an external drive.

That was not helpful for me because I live in Brazil and AppleCare here is not even worth it in most states. There's only 1 Apple Store in the whole continent it seems, and sending the notebook through mail is not permitted.

Don’t do anything!

Bring your system directly to either an Apple Store or authorized service center to have if fixed. It should be covered under warranty! If you go to an authorized service center and they hassle you. You may need to take it to an Apple Store to get them to do it for free.

These keys are very fragile!

Unfortunately there are none in my city - neither authorized nor Apple Store. I'm struggling to find ones that accept service via mail. It's a bummer.
