Is this backlight issue repairable? (not a board issue)

Hi all! You’ll notice a major backlight problem in the image attached. I know it’s not a board issue because when replaced with a good screen there is no issue. I have several of these screens and considering how expensive iPad Air 2 screens are I would like to repair the screens. Does anyone have air 2 screen schematic? or has anyone had luck repairing a similar issue? Seems so wasteful to just toss them…

There can be several causes for this “Stage Light” issue. It could be damaged, or partially damaged backlight filters or diodes. It can also be caused by excess heat when removing the screen assembly. Lastly, it could be a defective light strip in the LCD (that’s what this one looks like). In the last case, you would have to open up the LCD unit and replace the backlight directly, like a screen refurbisher does with an iPhone screen. I’ve never done this so I can only point you in that general direction.

Thanks Minho, thanks for the response. I can rule out the board related issues because when I replace the display with a good one it works fine. At the bottom of the Air 2 screen there is a skinny but long PCB with caps, filters, diodes and ICs do you know anything about that board?

One of my technicians tried repairing a backlight damaged display but they were unable to. They concluded it was damage to the backlight layer of the screen rather than the display board.
