Home button loose after screen replacement

So I replaced the screen and used a third party cheaper screen on my old iPhone 6, but now the home button is a bit loose and I can wiggle it with my finger so to speak, and its making a rattling noise when I touch the home button. The home button works fine except the Touch ID (which is another topic).

I have used this exactly same screen brand 3 times earlier both for this phone and other iPhones, and I have not experienced this kind of problem any of the previous times.

The home button rubber gasket is present and whole, and the metal bracket is screwed on very tightly over the home button. Everything seems to be whole and normal with the home button and its surroundings. I can’t think of anything obvious which should cause this problem?

So any ideas what can cause this problem and how to fix it?

Well the home button doesn’t move around sideways like the home button hole is bigger, its more like its wiggling “up and down” in the corners, if you understand?

I think its easy to always blame third party replacement parts the first thing you do, sure sometimes they are at fault, but there can surely be other things causing problems in an iPhone. People use mostly third party parts for iPhone repairs (unless you let an Apple authorised repair shop fix your phone), so if that was the cause many more people would have these kind of problems, yet I don’t feel they are too common compared to how many third party parts are used for repairs out there.

Thanks, I will have to test bending the metal bracket slightly to see if its a pressure problem.

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful we got third parties replacements, if it was just up to Apple and the likes we would have to pay a mortgage for using their devices and work three days to pay the bill for a screen replacement, as if it was gold plated. On the other hand, aftermarket replacements have indeed quite unpredictable quality standards, you go from screens with lifetime warranty as the ones sold by iFixit to awful quality replacements sold in big marketplaces where sellers change name every three months to avoid complaints and refunds, with everything in between.

I believe the answer is already in your first sentence..when buying “third party cheaper screens” you can reasonably expect to get all sort of issues: greyish shade, blueish shade, washed out colors and all kinds of size issues, slightly bigger or slightly smaller are the standard. If your home button moves about in the hole it’s usually just because the hole is wider than it should. Brands don’t mean much either, they’re usually just merchant applied stamps or labels.

try putting a slight bend in the metal bracket that the homebutton presses against so it pushes the homebutton out alittle.
