On the Nikon 5600, all normal shooting methods are through the view finder, EXCEPT in live mode.
The preview screen will display settings in all shooting methods except live.
There is a small trigger switch near the mode dial, toggle this to enter live mode. You also have to be in live mode to capture video (enter live mode, then press the small button with the red dot on it).

Samuel Nwankwo intermittent error are very hard to fix. I’d suggest you start by checking your LCD screen and the connector. Check the cable for any damage and the connector as well. Clean both with some high grade 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. See if that changes anything. If it does not you may have to consider a new LCD. Anything after that would require a schematic to see where the signal comes from etc. Nikon D5200 Screen Replacement Also not the same model at least in the same family and it should get you to the screen.
