What is this chip marked CD on it?

My MacBook just switched off and then there was this burning smell that came. I took it to the service center where they said that a component on the logic board has got loose and that they will not solder it back as apple only replaces the component. Now the entire motherboard would have to be replaced is what they are saying.

Can anyone tell me what this component is which has “CD" marked on it and if I can purchase this from somewhere or maybe if this could be fixed somehow.

That component is just a fuse on the power rail to the trackpad. It shouldn’t prevent your Mac from working, thus you probably have other damages to the trackpad and/or logic board side. It would be quite useless to replace just the fuse as it will likely blow again unless one first disposes of the related failure. However, if you want to try your odds fuse specs are: 2.5A-16V-0.1OHM in a 1812 case. Not very common and easy to find anyway.

Thank you so much for the info. Would try to find the related failure first and then try my luck with the fuse
