Recently replaced a screen on an IPhone 7 Plus screen and now I can’t hear when someone talks unless it’s on speaker phone. I ruled out IC problem with testing voice memo. Maybe a factory reset will help but not sure. Anyone want to take a stab at this?

If you are certain the ear speaker is alright then it is defiantly your audio IC.
These are the common symptoms of audio ic. They don’t have to be all present at once.
· Callers can't hear you
· You can’t hear callers
· Voice memos are greyed out
· Sound doesn't record on videos
· Siri can't hear you
· You hear static on calls
· Speakerphone doesn't work
· Phone takes a very long time to boot

I believe the voice memo app plays sound though the loudspeaker and not the earpiece speaker. It sounds like you aren’t having any problems with the loudspeaker as speaker phone is working. Does the facing camera work? What about the proximity sensor? If neither of these things work then it could either be that there was damage to the front camera assembly or it’s not plugged in correctly to the board. Try re-seating your connectors on the board. There is also a piece of tap that covers the solder points under the front camera assembly where it sticks down on the left side. If there is no tape covering these contact point that can cause problems. You can use kapton tape to cover the solder points.

You cannot really rule out the Audio IC just because voice memos work. How long does the iPhone take to reboot ?

the reboot process takes no time. No noticeable lag time. The voice memo played from the speaker.
