Fan issue? Shuts down intermittently with Photoshop

Hi. My ancient 2004 white iMac is still useful to me. I think I have a fan issue as when I use Photoshop it shuts down every 5-10 minutes but after a rest I can tap a key and bring it back up. How can I tell what fan needs replacing? How can I get the part?

You’ll need to dig a bit deeper here. Theres just too many things you could be facing.

  • Did you try running diagnostics?
  • Did you clean out the dust build up on the fans and logic board?
  • Did you clean the old thermal paste and apply a fresh coat?
