Why is it that my laptop powers off after 5 seconds?

I recently realized that my Acer Aspire ES1-512 powers off by itself after 5 seconds from the time I power it up. I tried to clean the fan and air vent but still it does the same. Please help I’m running out of ideas now.

Does it do this with the charger connected and switched on?

Does it get to the Acer "logo" screen or the Windows boot screen before it shuts down?

@jayeff It does not even reach to Acer Logo or Boot Screen at all

Hi,

Have you tried pressing and holding the Power button to ensure that the laptop is really off before attempting to start it again in the normal manner, just in case it is in some sort of sleep or hibernation state and fails to restart correctly?

Just trying to eliminate things
