Replace Wifi/Bluetooth cable without Isight
Hi Everyone,
Will try to get straight to the point. While trying to add an additional drive utilizing the optical drive of my late 2008 Macbook Pro 15” I noticed some odd behaviour after installation:
- The fans run high constantly - even after NVRAM and SMC reset
- When shutting down via finder the machine boots down and then turns on again on its own
- The machine also boots up automatically when the magsafe cable is connected
- The wifi and camera does not work - Bluetooth works
After close inspection I noticed that the isight/wifi/bluetooth cable that connects to the logic board maybe damaged which maybe causing these issues, based on what I have read elsewhere:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac...
I don’t care so much about the isight camera or the bluetooth. As a matter of fact, even if the wifi doesn’t work I can always use a USB adapter. My concern is more to resolve these additional oddities.
I will try disconnecting/disabling the airport connection see if it solves the issue.
My main question is, if I were to get a new isight/wifi/bluetooth cable could I connect the wifi/bluetooth without the isight? Reason being is that from what I can gather, replacing the isight involves taking the LCD apart where as replacing the wifi and bluetooth is relatively easier and just requires access to the wifi/bluetooth card where the lid hinges. Since the cable is all one piece could I not just remove the isight portion and tape the exposed portion up?
Let me know your thoughts. They are much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Dan.
Tried pressing the D key but no luck. Also tried command+D and option+D without any luck.

Thanks Dan,
I ran the test and got 4SNS/ 1 /40000000: TB3T - 128.000. I realized after that this was with a new battery I installed so I installed the previous battery and ran the test again and got 4SNS/ 1 /40000000: TG1H - 128.000
