No backlight - what can be the cause if NOT the logic board?

I'll keep this brief and simple.

I need a new display for my MacBook Pro 15” mid 2015 retina display due to liquid damage to it. That's fine.

I found a guy selling a display for 50 quid, as it has a known backlight issue. The image is present but no backlight and the machine it came from is fine now after it's display being replaced.

Main question: What component can be the cause of this issue, and what's the worst case scenario?

I know the LVDS cable is a prime suspect right?

Backlight strip possible but unikely?

Whate else is there?

Update: this display came from a liquid damaged MacBook Pro.

The EDP cable plugs on the retina screen board as well as the backlight. I’ve never seen around a schematic of the screen board, but it’s doubtless you have circuits going from the EDP cable to the backlight cable, thus there can be 3 possible faulty parts:

EDP cable
screen board
backlight strip

@kefka Nope, in case it would be the board that's not replaceable in any way. If it was the screen backlight, it might be fixed but result would probably be miserable. Best hope is damage is limited to the cable.
