The SSD is your storage. On this model it came in 2 different sizes, a 128GB and a 256GB. If you have the smaller one it can be replaced with a larger one.

The information about what you have can be found under the Apple on the left corner at “about this Mac”. Please tell us if you have the i5 or i7 so we know your exact machine and may be able to give you other options.

You’ll need to see what resources are running out. Locate Activity Monitor in your Apps folder launch it to monitor your processes, RAM & Storage as well as your network activity.

Things I would do is reduce open apps, only open the needed app and reduce the number of windows you have open with that app. As an example Chrome is a memory pig! So having to many open windows will reduce your already limited RAM in this system.

Storage is the next area to focus in on get an external drive to place your created content as well as any media files you have like Music, Podcasts & Vids.

Ideally, you want to leave 1/3 off the drive as unused. Unlike other systems which have more RAM, macOS will leverage the drive for virtual RAM to make up the difference, so a full drive makes this harder for the OS to do.

Network activity is the last. Just sitting in front of your system with nothing opened ro running do you see a lot of network activity? This can be a sign of malware and/or someone accessing your drive remotely.
