Why won't my Lock Icon switch to iPod?

I started using my iPod to go running so it got sweaty. I use the hold button a lot. Then is started getting stuck on lock, even if I moved the switch back and forth. Sometimes it would unlock and display iPod instead of the lock icon for a split second, but it wouldn't stay unlocked long enough to do anything. Now it never unlocks. I can connect it to laptop, wall charger, or disconnect, it still stays locked.

I've reset the iPod, reloaded all my tunes, but it still stays on lock. I took it apart and it still won't unlock. It is stuck on music with the scrolling covers. Nothing plays. Is there at least a way I can get it to play music?

It can be your hold switch is stuck in some way. Take a look at this guide:

iPod Nano 5th Generation Logic Board Assembly Replacement

see if you can manually move the hold switch at step 3. Use a small plastic tool to move the lock switch and see if that helps. If it is then you need a new switch button. Or you could clean it with some alcohol or anything that makes contact again. Could be your sweat just made it stick to hold. Let us know if this helps!
