No ssid but wifi leds (2.4&5GHz) are on

I have tried every suggest option from support team but non worked. GUI works perfectly, see changes on led status but no ssid broadcast.

Update (03/19/2020)

Hi all,

I opened this router, nothing obvious, input voltage is ok on every chip, nothing getting hot apart from main chip (but it not like red hot) so hard to say. Maybe some smd component is broken but without schematic verry hard to investigate...

Hi @elektor18 ,

Has it worked OK before?

Did you try to create your own SSID name in the appropriate field in the UI’s Wireless Setting area and ensure that the Visibility Status was enabled and click on Save for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless settings?

Did you try inserting an SSID in the Guest Zone area and check if that was visible?

Does the router have the latest firmware installed?

Is the device you’re using to connect to the router via WiFi “seeing” other Wifi networks OK?

Apologies if you’ve tried all this but we don’t know what you know has been tried and didn’t work

Yes, I have tried what you mention and yes, it has latest. “Last resort” option tried as well…

@elektor18 ,

So it has worked OK before?

Did you try changing the "Visibility Status" to "invisible" and check if that changes anything?

Was anything connected to it before e.g. a PC etc that can still connect automatically to the router if it is turned on proving that it is transmitting even though the lights are on?

Hi @elektor18 ,

Something like this program -example only (it says it has a free trial) might be needed to prove that the router is actually transmitting.

Just a thought.

I have change visibility from on to off, then save and back again from off to on and save again. Didn’t change anything. It was ok previously, I used my laptop with it. I used recovery mode and upload firmware for HW A1 but my is A2, I hope this is not a problem. I coudn’t find A2 firmware so I’m guessing it shouldn’t matter, right?

I used wifi sniffer (android app) for that and nop, nothing from my d-link.

Hi all,

I posted something here but somehow it disappeared. So I will write again.

I opened router, nothing obvious damaged, no black spots from heat, look normal, Vcc present at output from buck converters so hard to tell why it is stopped working… It could be just one (or few) of smd component(s) broken (or bad contact). Main chip is quite hot (but it is probably normal for this one), WLAN chips cold compare to main one.

Hi @elektor18 ,

I moved your original answer to an update to your question (look up to your question) so that people can see what you tried to do to fix it as it was not an "answer" to fix the problem.
