MacBook Pro 13'' 2012 Random Shuts Down
Hello,
I have a MacBook Pro mid 2012 13'' Core i5. The issues are as follows:
- The machine shuts down to completely dead (no power at all) after a couple of minutes.
- If I let the machine rest for several hours it will stay on for about 5mins.
- If I try to turn on the machine after a random shutdown it will only boot up for a couple of seconds, so I have to let it rest for it to turn on for a while.
I have isolated the problem to a bad motherboard. I’ve done the following diagnosis:
- On battery, w/o battery, with a battery from a different machine: same thing happens
- I’ve disconnected everything from the motherboard except the LCD: same thing happens
- Tried other Hard Drivers and OS's: same thing
- Tried an LCD from a different machine: same thing
- SMC and PRAM resets
- Boot in Safe Mode: it seems to last a little longer
- Monitor temperatures with TG Pro: everything is normal
- The only time this did not happen was when I switched the motherboard from another fully functional 2012 MacBook Pro.
If the motherboard is bad, how can I know which part of the motherboard is the issue?
Thank you very much.

Let's get a bit more here. First are you able to run the onboard diagnostics? Restart the system and press the D key did you get any errors? Post what you got.
Also lets check the battery and charger let's install this gem of an app CoconutBattery Post a snapshot of the main window here for us to see Adding images to an existing question
