For calibration: died at 20% and Charge Battery Image Appears on Scree

Hello,

I am going through the battery replacement process and have a couple questions.

First, when I got the new battery, the MBA didn't power on until I plugged it into the magsafe charger. It showed the charge battery symbol on the screen when I tried to power it on, but only turned on when I plugged it in. When it was plugged in and on, the battery read 89% charged. So I powered it down and let it charge for the two hours over the first appearance of the green light.

I then used it, unplugged until it died. No message popped up about it about to shut down due to power. It shut down with around 20% of the battery left, according to the percentage in the upper right hand corner.

It sat over night, but my real question is, is the MBA supposed to be completely bone dry? Cause mine still has the Charge Battery Image pop up on the screen when you push the power button.

I haven't been able to find anything about this in my searches about calibrating the battery.

@danj here is the image of coconut battery. I just got done with the 100% recharge after letting it rest over night. When I came back to turn it on, it wasn’t a fresh restart. When I pushed the power button it just booted up as if the lid was closed. This makes me think it was never completely dead.

@danj Thank you Dan. New to these boards so don't know if I have to reply to this inline comment to send you a notification. I posted the image with a bit more information of what is going on.

I see no issues here now. Using it with the MagSafe charger plugged in is the system stable?

из

@danj yes, a third party charger I got off Amazon. Seems to work, but always suspicious of this type of stuff.

Everything seems stable, but I honestly haven't used the machine much. Will update if it starts acting up.

Time to toss that charger away! All it will do is kill your system or set your house on fire!

Both Amazon and eBay sell fakes! I have yet to see a real one even through the sales claims its a real OEM unit! >Not<

Only buy a real Apple unit REAL Apple MagSafe Power Adapters
